Why it matters

Being a professional in the fitness industry is hard. The part where you get to the train and train other people is the fun part. Getting clients to pay you or members to sign up to your gym - that’s hard. Turning a profit on your business every month - that’s really hard. Staying in business - that’s really, really hard. Growing your business - probably the hardest thing you have to do.

We don’t sugar coat it because, frankly, the odds of financial success are against you. All the passion, and physical ability you have doesn’t mean much in the daily grind of running your own business. We’ll do our best to keep it simple, real, and supportive.

That means telling you about what works and doesn’t work under different circumstances, for different coaches, for other gyms, so you can identify relevant information to your own extremely unique situation.

There’s not going to be a lot of touchy-feely coaching philosophy here. You should know your own job. If there are coaching tips that can help you improve the service you provide, or identify new opportunities then, we’ll stay on make sure you know about them. We see a lot of stuff that you probably don’t because people pitch us on fitness products and methods all of the time.

Join the crew

Be part of a community of indie coaches and gyms. Support each other, help each other to succeed. You are the only ones who know how hard it can be to make this profession work. You are the only ones who can truly help each other.

You’re not in competition with another personal trainer or another indie gym. You are competing against a box of half-eaten donuts because someone’s job sucks, a phone that sucks the life out of people’s eyes, the living room sofa that swallows someone up for a decade and spits them out sallow and unfit. You’re competing with that third Big Mac this week that’s going to give someone heart disease, the globo gym membership that hasn’t been used in two years because someone can never find the time, and the natural inclination of most people to avoid doing anything that makes them uncomfortable.

If you want to have a career in the fitness industry, if you want to be your own boss, we’ll give you the information and data you need to succeed. Making things happen is all on you.
